The Rahhal Programme is a progressive and revolutionary scheme launched by the KHDA in April 2018, under the Dubai 10X, a Dubai Future Foundation initiative.

The Indian High School, Oud Metha was pleased to pioneer this programme with 3 students in 2018 and then successfully implement Rahhal2.0 from 2019 onwards with the entire Senior Secondary Section – 1200 girls and boys of grades 11 and 12. Our innovation in education was highly lauded:

Rahhal means “traveler” in Arabic and the programme helps each learner to walk their own unique path based on higher education and career choices, co-scholastic passions and skills, while meeting the academic demands of the +2 programme of the CBSE.

Before Rahhal we have seen our students struggle to meet the demands of the CBSE grade 11& 12 syllabus and try to balance that with a 5-day school week, submission deadlines, external coaching for high attainment as well as preparation for highly competitive entrance exams to professional courses. The pressure can be intense and perhaps in all this there is no time to spare for pursuing co-scholastic interests, peaceful longer hours of self-study and sometimes even enough sleep. As the two-year programme progresses, stress builds, the pressure to perform academically begins to mount and well-being dips.

The Rahhal programme became the answer to many of the above as it frees up 1 whole day in the week – as the non-instructional, self-study day – in addition to a 2-day weekend to get some family time. Our learners and their parents were extremely satisfied with the new way of managing time in which we think in terms of productive hours rather than rigidly structured working and off days. In Rahhal the school week is completed in 3.5 days rather than being spread out over 5 days.
